The April Sale seen tremendous trade when we brought out the 2 youngest bulls with Braveheart setting a new N.I. Record Price of 6800gns when selling to S Caldwell for his dairy herd. The first Top Prize son to come to public auction he had exceptional figures being the top 2023 born Hereford for terminal & self replacing figures in the breed. Bullet was a son of our top breeding cow Amber N4 and sired by Promoter he sold for 4600gns

At the February Native Breeds Sale our 2 entries once again took the 2 top prices and also the Championship. Taking the top spot in both sections was Rambo, a very impressive April born Upgrade son out of a Henry daughter whose full brothers Kitkat & Milkyway sold to average £10080 in Hereford. Backed with exceptional figures, all traits above average with Top 10% weight and EMA, Top 5% RBY, TI & SRI he sold for 4500gns. Selling for 3000gns was the March born Real Thing. He was previously Male Champion at Balmoral Show last year. His dam Dainty N11 is a full sister to Pounder sold to AI Services.

In March 4 bulls sold to AI centres, these bulls were selected at an average of 11.25months and have CE, TI & SRI Indexes in the Top 5% with BW of 37.75kg and GL of 281 days, with all being closely related to some of most successful and highest priced sales of recent years.

 

Best wishes to NCBC/Progressive Genetics on their purchases of Sonic & Spark. Both out of heifers. Sonics grand dam is also grand dam of Kitkat with Sparks great grand dam the dam of Karate Kid. Sonic is a Henry son out of the first Upgrade daughter born here with Spark being the first calf born from Promoter.

 

Thanks to Genus ABS on their purchases of Sultan & Spike, both Upgrade sons, Sultan is a heifers calf whose dam is full sister to Kentucky Kid with Spikes dam being a full sister to Nobility, stockbull at Rempstone.

Our only entry for the Shrewsbury Spring Sale was Trooper, a Perfection son from the Upgrade heifer Starlet P18. An impressive bull with a great top and hindquarter he had the highest figures in the sale for 400 & 600 day weight, Scrotal Size, Terminal & Self Replacing Index. He sold to HA Colburn for 6200gns to join the Crickly Herd, the same home Dynamite went to when he left here.

April sales were a busy period with cattle in Shrewsbury and Dungannon. Our Shrewsbury team topped at 6000gns for Pansy T17, a full sister to Powerhouse she sold to Gerald Wood, Devon. The first Promoter sons also made it to public auction with Victor selling in Shrewsbury for 3000gns to P & K Maltby, Buxton while in Dungannon Valencia was Reserve Champion and sold for 5000gns to W Crea, Strangford with Vicon sold for 3000gns to G McAdoo, Cookstown. All the Promoter progeny were out of heifers.

At the NI Premier Sale we had great trade for both our bulls. Both won their classes and went on to take 2 of the top 3 prices. Alberto topped the sale at 4500gns to Nigel Patterson following on from his purchase of Rambo 5 years ago at the same event. A son of Humberto his dam was by Kentucky Kid. The Promoter son Arizona was Champion and sold to Ivan Haire for the Dorepoll Herd for 4100gns. His granddam had bred sons to 5400gns and daughters to 5500gns in Hereford.

At our Celebration Sale on Saturday we had a fantastic trade with purchasers from both new and established herds on both sides of the sea. There were four 5 figure prices with the top price bull and heifer going to repeat customers while setting new herd record prices with heifers averaging £5980 and bulls £8715.

 

Topping the trade at 13,500gns and setting a new breed poll female record price was Starlet B22, one of the first daughters of Rempstone 1 Worldwide she was selling incalf to Panmure 1 Henry and was knocked down to Paul Sammon, Tipperary for his Firmoll Herd.

Blacksmith was the highest priced bull at 13,000gns and moves to Scotland’s Peter Eccles’ Rockness herd. Sired by stockbull Fabb 1 Top Prize. Blacksmith’s excellent figures also rank him in the Top 1% of the breed for weight gains, carcass weight and self replacing indexes., joining him is Pansy B19 who sold for 5200gns. Pansy sells in-calf to two times UK Sire of the Year Solpoll 1 Perfection.

One of 3 new herds to be established at the sale was the Quaiken herd of Andrew Shakeshaft, Shropshire. He purchased Fanny A32 for 9000gns, a daughter of Solpoll 1 Spike, she sold due to calve early 2026 to Rempstone 1 Worldwide. Joining her was Starlet B25. One of the only daughters of CCR Stamina to come to auction, she had previously won her class at the calf show on her only show appearance. Incalf to Solpoll 1 Boomer, she sold for 10,000gns.

Also achieving 10,000gns was last bull in the sale Bruno. Sired by Square-D Diesel and our top donor Amber N4 he was secured by Steve & Ben Chilman, Presteigne, Powys his first calves are due at the start of 2026.

Boomer took the next highest price of the day when he sold for 7000gns to Jimmy Hodge, Berwick upon Tweed. A son from the outstanding breeding Starlet L3, he was service sire to 9 of the sale heifers, including the 6000gns Moeskaer Pacman daughter Stella B24. Her dam was full sister to the £13,000 True Grit. Jimmy also purchased 3 further incalf females, the 5600gns Amber B10, Starlet B12 for 4800gns and the 3800gns Pansy B8.

Banner sold for 6500gns to Mark & Laura Armstrong, Greer Watson purchased Dainty B7 for 6000gns and Amber B6 at 5500gns to Erin Hayes, all staying in N.I. Gavin Dunbar, Lanarkshire, purchased Bond for 5000gns, and the incalf Starlet B14 for 4,400gns.

Embryos sold to a top of 550gns for a pair of embryos from Stardust R8, the dam of the 13,000gns Blacksmith with the last straws of Panmure 1 Henry to be offered for sale selling for 440gns per straw. Thank you to all who supported, bid and bought in our sale, the catalogue is available here

 

Just prior to the sale we sold Classic a tremendous son of Henry privately to Matt Goulding, his dam is a flushmate of Ace whose first calves are very promising. Ace stood Interbreed Champion at Bucks County for the Ludgate family.
